READ ME: Info and Tips!

This is not a normal set of impulse responses. Instead of hundreds of choices it is scaled back and each IR has been hand picked to give you great tones quickly so you can get to the point - making music! 

The Approach: Taking classic and modern speaker choices I created impulse responses using great mics in several tried and true positions.  Each was then phase aligned so that every IR in this pack is in phase with the others. This allows for ANY IR from this pack to be combined with others in this pack and general phase coherency to be maintained. After alignment I painstakingly went through them all and combined and in some cases gently EQ’ed them to create 3 groups - Amp Cabs, Blends, and Single Mic IR’s. 

Amp Cabs: (9 Stereo files) These IR Blends were specifically created using the Strymon Iridium and it’s 3 amp choices - Round, Chime, and Punch. 3 blends per amp to fit in the 3 Cab choices for each model. These are classic speaker choices for each model but don’t be afraid to try them on a different style amp then initially intended! You may find an unlikely combo is just the trick to get the tone you are after. 

A note about Stereo and Mono Files: The Stereo versions are 2 speakers together - For instance: “Round 1 SC64 12A125” is an Eminence SC64 (American Style ceramic speaker) and a Weber 12A125a (American Style Alnico Speaker). The speakers are listed in accordance to their placement - The SC64 is panned to the left, and the 12A125 is on the right. Although Strymon makes it very easy to split the files apart in the IR Manager the separate mono files are here for your convenience when using them in other applications. You can also create new stereo pairs using these files by changing one side in the manager. (For example: Take the left side of the “Round 1 SC64 12A125” and the left side of the “Chime 1 Green H30 V2”, pan one left, one right, and you have an American/British blend using the SC64 and a Greenback. If only one speaker is listed in the file name then only one speaker was used. Different mics and/or positions are used on each side of these IR’s.   

Blends: (11 files included) These are single speaker IR’s. They are created using a combinations of mics and positions then gently EQ’ed. Each side is a different blend. While they are generally similar they will vary slightly. This is helpful when creating new blends with other IR’s. Try both sides when pairing with other IR’s to see what works best for you!

Single Mic: (9 stereo and 18 different mono files)  These are what I think of as “Raw” IR’s. These are single mics on a speaker with no EQ unless specified. The stereo versions are 2 separate positions of the same mic on the the same speaker. The separate positions give you a slightly more separated stereo field. These are also broken out into mono files for your convenience. Also in the mono folder: Here I have included more Mono “Raw” IR’s. There may be some over lap here but that’s because I initially wasn’t going to include these files. These will generally be darker with more low mids. These will also give you a more natural mic’ed amp sound since no blending or EQ’ed has occurred.

Final Note: Have fun and experiment but most of all, make music! I love great tone but having good tone doesn’t mean anything without a song!
