Oval - EV12/G1265 Impulse Responses
Introducing the latest release in the “Oval” series - the “EV12/G1265”. Using an Electro-Voice EVL-12M and a Celestion G12-65 these IR’s sound incredible with Dumble style amps and modelers but don’t limited them to just singing blues tones. Both of these speakers are known for great rock and clean tones as well. Clean or Dirty, these speakers have been used by some of the worlds best.
The Cab
Built to the specs of a legendary builder, this cab is like nothing you’ve ever heard. In an oversized 2x12 configuration, this cab provides an incredible balance of low end and definition using a carefully tuned open oval back.
The Speakers
Created to be the world’s best guitar speaker the Electro-Voice EVL12M is an incredibly versatile speaker and excels at a wide variety of tones. From Rock (Zakk Wylde) to Pop/Blues (John Mayer) some of the worlds best players have relied on it for their signature tones. The Celestion G1265 is another world renowned speaker and has been used for Blues and Rock for decades. It provides a focused mid-range and clarity with a warm top end.
The Capture
Unlike the previous Oval release, these were captured in a smaller, treated amp room to insure a balanced capture that works in a variety of scenarios.
The IR’s
There are 2 categories of IR’s included - Raw and Blended/EQ’d at 200ms and 500ms lengths in all common file rates (44.1, 48, 96). The “Raw” options are flat captures of different microphone/speaker combinations in different positions. Positions are labeled 1 through 4, with 1 being the brightest and 4 being the darkest. The Blended and EQ options are custom mixes of different mics and/or gently EQ’d options that are closer to a finished sound. Each Blended and EQ’ed option was done meticulously while playing through the IR, not just a stock blend or EQ setting. While there is no way to know exactly what your rig and needs are, my hope is that these options get you a better tone, faster! Mics include: Shure SM57, Shure 545SD, Shure SM7b, Sennheiser e609, Royer 121, Lawson L47, Neumann KM184
