More about the Platform Collection:
All of these amps are part of personal collection that I have played and tweaked for years. In fact, 3 of them I built myself! This has allowed me to mod and tweak the circuits to suit my needs for live use as well as in the studio. Also, during the capture process specific tubes were chosen by ear for each amp to get the best tones possible! The IR’s are part of my Oval Series of IR’s and have been specifically chosen to suit each capture. That being said, try different combos - you might find something that suits your needs even better!

The Sounds:
The collection focuses on clean and edge of breakup tones. Because of the amp choices you’ll have a variety of shades and colors to choose between. It doesn’t stop with just low gain tones though as there are overdriven captures of each amp too. Some great edge of breakup tones can be achieved by starting with the more overdriven tones and turning down the gain or simply by bringing your guitar volume down. Or, use a boost or overdrive pedal to push these captures into sweet drive and lead tones! You won’t find any high gain tones here but instead the perfect starting point for adding pedals. Great for lots of styles including Rock and Indie-Rock, Blues, Country, Americana and Roots styles, as well as modern Worship music.
Tips and Tricks:
Getting your input trim/levels dialed in are key to getting desired gain/drive levels. I personally set mine around +1 or +2 but this isn’t a one size fits all setting. The “Pushed” tone models should overdrive a little bit when strummed firmly/hard.
Don’t be afraid to adjust EQ and gain levels to suit different guitars or desired tones. The ToneX does a great job retaining a natural sound while tweaking parameters.
Try different IR’s than those selected in the “presets” or just start with the capture and explore the VIR cabs and your personal IR’s. Although it’s a lesser known speaker, I love the EV12 IR included with the collection with most things.
If your guitar is overly bright or dark compared to others try placing the EQ in “PRE” mod before the amp block. This will allow you to get it to a good base line when trying different captures.
I like adding just a slight amount of compression to some captures especially if I’m playing on the cleaner side. (The comp in ToneX is actually really good even at higher compression settings). This will help with volume spikes and harshness associated with harder playing styles. I find adjusting the compression is best done in the app so you can monitor how much gain reduction you are getting. For me, adjusting compression so it’s just barely lighting up when you play hard works best for general playing.
